It may have already been mentioned here that Hookworms are awesome.

I'm not talking about the gut parasites, of course, but the psych quintet from Leeds. There first album, Pearl Mystic, was fantastic and will, I believe, be looked back on as a seminal work from this decade.

As is often the case with the successor to an album you really like, I'm not entirely sure the new stuff lives up to it. That being said, Microshift is definitely worth a listen and may yet grow on me. Either way, it's good to see them back with a new release.

Yo La Tengo are one of those bands who offer a cavernous back-catalogue to get stuck into while still providing new music every few years.
This latest track is another pleasant slow-burner, not particularly memorable but still very enjoyable.

Nicolas Jaar has featured on the earlier pages of this blog, and his releases seldom disappoint. Just a month or so older than me, for over a decade now he has been releasing tunes with a great sense of rhythm and intricate production that suck you into their own little world.
His new album is under the alias A.A.L (Against All Logic), and it's great.
